If Moses went to heaven if he died, is he still alive?
A: Dear Lucas,
The Bible tells us that Moses died on Mount Nebo before the children of Israel crossed the Jordan river into Canaan, also referred to as the promised land (Numbers 34). However we are told in Jude 1:9 that Michael (another name for Jesus) argued with Satan over the body of Moses. Many believe that this is because Jesus wanted to resurrect Moses and take him to heaven.
The truth is that people will go to heaven when Jesus comes the second time to takes us there: (John 14:1 KJV) "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
(1 Thessalonians 4:15-17) "For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
(1 Corinthians 15:52-53) "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."
This means that when we get to heaven we will not only be alive but we will also be changed, we will have perfect bodies and we will be immortal. All we need to do to make it to heaven is to love Jesus with all of our heart. I’m excited about going to heaven aren’t you?
