Why cant we remember our past?
Q: Why cant we remember our past like when we were babies and smaller kids?
A: Dear Dominique
The truth is that some people remember their childhoods fairly well, while some others do not. I personally can’t remember as much as some other people. When we try real hard to think back, we generally begin to remember things from about 3-years-old and onward (although, as I said, some may remember earlier). There are several factors that affect the way we remember things. However, when it comes to very small children and babies, it is important to remember that the minds of babies are not fully developed yet, nor are small children’s. Because of that, memories are incomplete for the very young.
Things that can help our memories improve now are eating a good diet, drinking lots of water, getting plenty of exercise and memorizing Bible texts. The good news is that Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will help us remember the most important things of life (John 14:25).
Thanks for writing, and remember, there's never been a better time to share Jesus!
